   Welcome New Members in 2017

More new members to welcome!  We look forward to seeing you all at one of our upcoming events.  While things tend to slow down in the summer, if you're a year-round resident of the Old Pueblo and want to enjoy great rates and faster pace of play, just reach out to us (through the member directory or to one of the board members through the links below).  Many of us relish the summer months when we have some of the best golf courses in the West mostly to ourselves!

Cathy Kammerer             May 8

Peggy Briggs                   May 10

Marvol Bernard               May 10

Kristie Fowler                  May 13

If you're interested in joining EWGA Tucson, take advantage of a new member discount available at the Classic level -- $20 off the $155 rate, so golfers can join for $135 (discount code:  2017-RECRUIT).  This is available now both on-line and via mail on the membership application.  Also members who have lapsed for any period of time can rejoin for $130.  Just call EWGA HQ at 561-691-0096 x110 to reactivate the account, then the discounted rate should be available on-line.

Save The Dates:

As promised by Headquarters, detail on dates and locations of our upcoming EWGA Championship Competitions has already been mapped out.

2018 EWGA Cup Schedule will have the Regional Event on Ept. 8-9 at Mission Hills Palmer Course in Rancho Mirage.  Finals will be Nov 2-3 at Horseshoe Bay Resort, Horseshoe Bay TX
More information will be sent out regarding Chapter events in preparation for these events.  Stay tuned.....

Reminder:  Get Rewarded for Participation

During this year, we’re tracking participation in EWGA Tucson events and will award a prize to the person who participates in the most events – fun events, ringers, competitions, leagues, social events, everything!  And the winner will be recognized at our Annual Business Dinner in November.

Thanks to Everyone Who Attended the Annual Business Dinner!

We had a great turn-out for our annual business dinner at Skyline Country Club on November 3.   With a view from the third floor out over the valley and the city, we watched  an autumn thunderstorm while we enjoyed good food and the great company of 35 members, sponsors, and our guest speaker, Carleigh Silvers. She spoke about how she got her career started, how life is on the tour and how difficult it is to stay in the game given the expense of it all.  She is becoming a strategic business woman along the way.  This year, we invited our sponsors to join us and were delighted to have Robert Taylor from the PGA Superstore, Jen Candanoza from Van’s, Julie Burdick from The Green Monkey, Janet Baker from Divorce Financial Advisors, and Jacki McCue from Continental Design.

Many thanks to the PGA Superstore for their generous donation of gift cards, Julie Burdick of The Green Monkey for gift cards and discount cards, Van’s for gift cards, and all the board members who worked hard to get two golf-get-aways, ten rounds of golf, restaurant gift cards, gift baskets, jewelry, hair care products, and more!   Congratulations to Barbara Ericks on winning the golf-get-away to the Gold Canyon Golf Resort & Spa, and to JoAnne Dowdy on winning the Sewailo golf-get-away!

This is always a wonderful event so don’t miss it next year!

Fall Ringer Update

Our first fall ringer took place on October 29 at Dell Urich.  Teri Ditsch won a prize for the best costume with her Minnie Mouse get-up…chased closely by Dawn Jacobs dressed up as Ms. Pussy Cat!

cat%20and%20mouse.jpg
It was a beautiful fall day, albeit a tad warm and cart-path-only.  But we expect the next ringer in the series to bring not only full course access but cooler weather.  If you missed the first one, you can still get in on the ringer series if you sign up and play the second and third ringers.  Click here to sign up today!

Holiday Celebration Coming Up

Welcome Your New Board

Well, it looks a lot like last year’s board!  Kathy Chavez was officially elected to fill the role she stepped into last year when our elected finance director resigned.  JoAnne Dowdy continues her role as member recruitment director, with Theresa Riel remaining as member services director.  Dawn Jacobs will stay on as our communications and marketing director, and Janet West will remain as our secretary.  We welcome Jacki McCue back to the board as events director, replacing the amazing Deb Dillon who is stepping down after two years.  And Liddy West will serve a second year as your president.   It truly “takes a village” – your board, as well as all of you who pitch in to help manage events, gather rounds of golf and other gifts for our special events, and everyone who participates in chapter activities.  Please take a moment at our next get-together to thank those that make it happen!

Looking for more golf?

We try and keep your dance card full with our local EWGA events as well as any national events and invitationals etc.  But there are some of you that are just yearning for more chasing of the ball.  Don't forget to check the AWGA & Southern District websites frequently to participate in any of their events.  It's a great way to meet other gals in the area that golf and hey, you can always invite them to be a member of ours.

This weekend, some of our members are participating in the AWGA Partners Tournament which will be held at Oro Valley Country Club and is always a fun event.  Last year, Kathie Coil and Dawn Jacobs took the overall low net and were joined by at least 6 other EWGA Tucson teams along with another 25 or so teams from Tucson and Phoenix.

The President's Desk

We hope that 2018 finds you all with good memories of the holidays and this past year.  Here at the Tucson Chapter, your Board is very busy putting together lots of opportunities to golf, socialize, and enjoy the camaraderie that makes your chapter so successful.  Events are starting to be finalized and it looks like there is something for everybody.  The end of season Holiday Golf Party at Ventana was enjoyed by all and a lot of toys donated by our members at that event will go a long way in making less fortunate children's lives brighter.  Thanks to all who contribute each year.
February, we will again have our EWGA Cowgirl Chic Invitational.  While last year's weather was less than ideal, we are looking at warmer weather and a good time for all.  It is always fun getting together throughout the year with other Chapters and see what's going on in their backyards.

For events this year, we are looking at the usual Ringer Tournaments and League Play, but also different social events, skills challenges and clinics to accommodate all of our members.
There is so much to do in the coming months, it would be impossible to list them all.  Keep checking the Newsletters and the website for current events and planning for the future.
