EWGA Desert Southwest Districk Semi Finals Results!

Tucson Old Pueblo sent 10 members to the EWGA Desert Southwest District Semi Finals on July 10th at the Revere-Concord Course in Henderson, NV.  Seven of our members placed in the event, which was one of 15 semi-final competitions held throughout the US.   Our scramble team PLACED FIRST and will advance to the 36-Hole EWGA National Tournament at Geneva National Resort and Golf Club at Lake Geneva, Wisconsin on Oct 1 & 2, 2010!  

Now in its 15th year, this annual nationwide competition had over 2400 participants in 2009, and is considered the largest amateur women's golf competition in the US.  Mary Ellen Case, Vice President of our Chapter and a competitor at the Semi Finals, speaks for all attendees: "It is an honor and great experience to participate in the EWGA National Semi-Final Tournament.  All those who attended are winners."

Chapter Championship Results!

 The Tucson Chapter of the EWGA (Executive Women’s Golf Association) held its chapter championship on Saturday, May 8th at the del Lago Golf Club in Vail. The winners are advancing to the semi-finals for the EWGA Championship, considered the largest amateur women’s golf competition in the United States.

 

Members compete in individual stoke play in five flights based on USGA handicaps and a scramble team competition. Low gross and low net winners in each flight and the winning scramble team then compete in one of 15 semi-final competitions held throughout the United States.  

 

The EWGA Tucson chapter winners will compete in the Desert Southwest district on July 10th at the Revere-Concord Course in Henderson, NV.  Winners advance to the 36-hole championship finals at Geneva National Resort and Golf Club in Lake Geneva, Wisconsin on October 1 and 2, 2010. State Medallion Results
On March 27, April 10, May 1, and May 16 at Crooked Tree Golf Course, many of the EWGA Tucson - Old Pueblo Chapter's AWGA Members participated in the four round State medallion Qualifier.  Their  two best rounds played are added together to determine the overall Low Gross and Low Net Winners.

 It was a tight competition until the final round was completed on May 16 and the winners were awarded their pins.  The Low Gross winner was Kathie Coil with a combined score of 166.   Second was Linda Hartsig with 174.  The Low Net winner was Sandie Becker with a combined score of 137.   Second was Ellen Sidor with 142.

  The first place winners will now advance to represent our Tucson Chapter in December at the golf course in Goodyear, AZ as a team. (If either first place winner cannot attend, the second place winner will take her place.)
