Who Are We?
Vision: We are the premier force for promoting women's golf.
EWGA Mission Statement: The EWGA exists to provide opportunities for women to learn, play, and enjoy the game of golf for business and for life.
Goals:
1. To provide premier programs for EWGA members in golf education, player skill development, organized play, and in learning how to use golf in business.
2. To provide timely and valued benefits and services to EWGA members and volunteer leaders.
3. To promote the growth of women's golf.
4. To be an advocate for positive change on issues of importance to women golfers.
Purpose
The purpose of the Executive Women's Golf Association (EWGA) is to provide members with the opportunity to develop networking skills, learn business golf, and enhance business contacts through the medium of golf. EWGA also provides educational programs to improve members networking and business golf skills and increase self-confidence, knowledge and enjoyment of the game.
About
The Tucson - Old Pueblo, AZ Chapter of EWGA is enjoying it's 12 year in Tucson and celebrating it's 4th consecutive year of being named an EWGA Chapter of Excellence. Established in 1995 it has approximately 150 members from the local area. The Tucson Chapter is part of the EWGA Mountain West Section, comprised of Chapters in Phoenix, Denver, Ft. Collins CO, Las Vegas, Albuquerque and Salt Lake City. EWGA members represent a wide variety of local employers and major professions in the greater Tucson area.
A Catalyst For Change
Since 1991, the EWGA has grown from its inaugural group of 28 to an international network of more than 100 local Chapters. After a decade of promoting the growth of women's golf, membership in 2003 was approximately 17,000!
Thanks to the opportunities afforded by the EWGA, women are beginning to make their influence felt on the traditionally male turf of the golf course. The association is an open avenue for women to use golf as a tool for both personal growth and corporate advancement. The intent is to gain proficiency in this "business sport" in a welcoming and comfortable environment -- among other businesswomen -- among friends.
The Common Link - At Any Level
New golfers, occasional golfers, and avid golfers will each find EWGA programs geared to their interest and to their demanding time schedules. There are instructional clinics on etiquette and rules so new golfers can learn without embarrassment. There are leagues, outings and championship tournaments for members who like competition. Whatever your level, most women quickly gain the confidence to join business associates and clients on the fairway.
Invaluable Business Insight
A recent article in USA Today reads, "5 Million Women Play Old Boys' Game." "If you're going to play in the big leagues, you have to be able to compete on and off the course," says an Alabama VP. Interaction during a game plays an important role in forming relationships. You can gain a new perspective on your associates and clients, see how they react in a tense situation, and, at the same time, learn in a setting that encourages relaxed conversation. The course is also a good place for career-minded women to evaluate self-performance under pressure.
Valued Personal Relationships
In a social setting, business associates often grow into personal friendships. Through EWGA, female peers in other industries can make close friendships as well as professional connections. If a member relocates, she can connect with the local Chapter for a new circle of friends, perhaps members she already met at previous events! Sharing fun, outdoor exercise, and golf experiences will automatically lengthen the list of names of your favorite people.
